If you are reading this, you are probably wondering what this blog/site is all about? In a nutshell: It is a place for me to brain dump while I work on a number of Adobe Flex related projects and somewhere to showcase those projects. My first post explains in detail the why’s, and below is some banal history. My CV/Résumé can be found here.

Many years ago my brother introduced me to Flash MX, in which I self trained myself. At the time I didn’t appreciate the power of ActionScript and had the graphic design skills of a donkey*, so rapidly left him (with his 3 years media degree experience) to champion the web design world while I moved back to application design.

I came across Flex early in 2007 while I was working on an audit and reporting project and found it extremely useful for displaying statistics. Soon afterwards I began to realise just how powerful a tool it really was and just how much potential it has in these emerging years of platform independent applications. As a java/.net/perl/php coder, I instantly recognised the benefits of Flex and embraced it immediately. I have not looked back since. Thankfully, as time goes by, my graphic design skills are improving too

So in summary: this site is about Flex, how I use it and why I think it is GREAT!.

* Trust me, donkeys aren’t very good at graphic design due to the handicap that hooves present.
