What started out as an amusing observation seems to have gathered the tiniest bit of momentum, to which this post may add. I rather flipantly recounted the story of the inflatable programmer in a previous post and thought nothing more of it. Well, after monitoring my web traffic today I discovered that it has been googled randomly by someone in Germany. More »

As programmers we’ve all been there. You’re working on a particularly tricky bug and for some reason you just can’t figure out what’s going wrong, so you call over one of your colleagues in the grim hope that they may be able to help you solve your problem. More »
As much as I have enjoyed the freedom of working on my own projects, the sporadic nature of payment and the huge overhead of writing specifications and proposals does take the fun out a little. For now, I am going to do some slightly more consistent work by taking on a contract at a large company in the Netherlands. More »
My Résumé is a rather pretty looking document in Word format, but recruitment agents and potential employers have often expressed disdain toward the tabulated nature of my art

This, bolstered by the fact that people I generally work for don’t want me to share my work either, makes me feel even more nervous. That said, the purpose of this site is to be generous and show off my abilities as much as possible. When I am feeling selfish about my code, I often remind myself of the inspiring Kato Wulf (the creator of Zentrack) and the huge amount of graft he put in for the love of his project. Obviously, I have great respect for people like Richard Stallman and Linus Torvalds too, but Kato is much closer to [my virtual] home. More »
